UK Recruiting Tips

This has certainly been the case for some time now. We specialize in the oil, gas and power industry and continue to see British skilled candidates going abroad for higher tax free salaries with big bonuses, free accommodation and other perks.

We often find that the only candidates applying for UK positions available are from countries outside the EU and new EU member countries, this continues to cause problems with the tightening of immigration regulations, clients are just not prepared to wait for the immigration process for Highly skilled candidates.

We believe that Fundamentally problems with bringing highly skilled candidates has been caused by to many lower skilled people from inside the EU coming to the UK, one example of this we found was that because of this restrictions on allowing Highly skilled Romanian candidates from just flying over when they joined the EU we lost potentially of £100,000 in 2 months.

The British jobs for British workers have been a joke if you look at how many expats go abroad and do exactly the same thing.

I believe while there are all these high paid tax free jobs abroad we will continue to see the same trend for years, if you look at it from a company point of view if you invest in training to boost your staffs skills it can benefit the company, but will this not lead to staff going elsewhere for a higher paid position now they have the extra skills?

Its all well and good if you are a large company with pots full of money, you can afford to risk getting no return on your investment through training and retraining.

Has there been a survey done to see if this works? What percentage of staff stay in the same company after training and retraining? I would be interested to find out.
