Whirlpool to add 150 jobs

A large regional distribution center for appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. in southern Dallas County will employ up to 150 and cost about $50 million to build.  Michigan-based Whirlpool last week confirmed plans to build a 1 million-square- foot facility in Wilmer (TX); south of Dallas, to serve the southern United States. 

 

New $7.7M center for Atmos Energy Corp.

Dallas-based Atmos (NYSE: ATO), which is led by CEO Robert Best, originally will employ 78 at the facility and will add 11 jobs by the end of 2012. The jobs will be a combination of new positions and transfers from other Dallas-area locations, said Miriam Raphael, Atmos’ manager of public affairs.

 

Dell contract could double Credant’s revenue

A new partnership with Dell Inc. could double the revenue, by 2011, of Credant Technologies, an Addison maker of data-protection software for laptops, smartphones and other devices.  Heard declined to reveal the dollar value of the encryption software contract, which is renewable after its initial three-year run. He also would not disclose revenue numbers for the privately held company, but said the business’ 120-person staff will likely grow by 25 to 40 people in the next 12 months, depending on the economic environment. The new additions will be in engineering, customer support and field sales, Heard said.

 

CBRE plans to hire 85 by year’s end

Real estate services giant CB Richard Ellis plans to hire 85 white collar employees in Dallas this year as part of an efficiency strategy. The Los Angeles-based company is hiring 20 people in human resources and 65 to work in information technology as it shifts jobs from southern California to Dallas.

 

American Standard picks D-FW

In one of the largest industrial deals in North Texas this year, Duke Realty Corp.’s Dallas office has leased Intermodal I, a 626,100-square- foot warehouse/distribut ion building, to American Standard Brands, a manufacturer of kitchen and bath products.  The building, which will be 100 percent occupied by American Standard, will be used as a distribution warehouse for the southern, western and central regions of the United States, said John Orr, vice president of strategic sourcing and real estate with American Standard.  It will employ about 75 people. The company plans to move in early June.


LG Electronics consolidates in Alliance

LG Electronics has consolidated its cell phone repair business to its facility at AllianceTexas in Fort Worth, adding 65 full-time employees and more than 65,000 square feet.

The company will add as many as 300 seasonal employees in addition to the 65 full-timers.
