I’ve landed the exact position I visualized, the one I knew I would be the
perfect fit for. I will start working for Celanese Ltd, a leader in the chemical
industry, in July as a Business Support Specialist. This position will be using
all of my skills and experiences. It will be an opportunity to grow
professionally and stretch into areas I have not encountered. It also operates
in the global business climate I’ve been seeking.

I got this position by
responding to a posting on Celanese’s website. The notice for this opening was
delivered to my mail box by Indeed.com. A few days after applying I was
contacted by phone; then a series of interviews were scheduled for two weeks
later. When the interviews were completed I left their building with a deep
sense of peace. The chemistry was good and the interviews could not have gone
better. I got my thank you notes out and four days later got the call I had
hoped to receive with an offer.

During the last 11 months I’ve been
seeking employment. The first 5 months were spent conducting the regular, old
fashioned job search via the internet; occasionally interviewing and having the
regular ups and downs which can sometimes occur when seeking employment.

Then I happened to run into a friend, Mark Pavlovich, who encouraged me
to visit this networking group. On my first visit I was surprised at how many
people were in attendance. I was not alone in my search! My life changed – I was
getting out, meeting new people and learning about what one has to do to attain
a new job in this economy. Today I appreciate the importance AND magic of
networking. Even though I’ve landed, I know I need to keep in touch with my
contacts and add new ones for the rest of my life.

Last week Gary Spinell wisely said …the
question is not if you’ll get a job…try and try again – your time will come. Use
this time wisely – we are here today to get from where we were to where we are
going next.
