Networking Friends,
Just wanted to share that I am in the second week of my new job with ITW Shippers.  Wanted to thank those of you from both the Southlake Focus Group and the DFW Sales and Business Development Group that have shared advice and encouraged me during the search.  Especially Foster Williams and Dennis O’Hagan who welcomed me to the world of networking.  It took exactly 6 months to find my new career , just as the TWF Unemployment benefits ran out.  I receive two job offers the same week …

Brief History:

I was laid off on Jan. 1st, 2009 – because I decided not to take a position with the company and move to Charleston , S. Carolina .
After much prayer I knew that after 19 years away from home, it was time to return, and God began paving the way for all things to come together. I was not expecting it to take 16 months to land a job, but over the 16 months of waiting and praying I realized God was doing a much greater work.  My roots …

First I will apologize for this mass sent email.  So many of you have been so supportive during my search that I couldn’t send each a personal note.  I’m sure I’ll talk with lots of you in the future and can go into more details.

Starting June 1, I will become the Human Resources Director for VLSIP Technologies, Inc. in Richardson, TX.  www.vlsip.com.  This microchip module manufacturing company has approximately 200 employees and has been around since the mid ‘80’s.  I will be replacing a retiring individual in a true “one …

After 6 months of intense networking, interviewing, I have landed a position as a Senior Investment Consultant with a retirement services and asset management firm out of Florida. Luckly for me, they are willing to let me commute and thus, I will not have to up root my family and move to Florida.
I want to thank all those who have established the various network groups through out the metroplex. What a blessing they have been. I have been able to grow as a person, and learned to pay it forward. …

Good news!  Late yesterday, I accepted an offer with Fannie Mae as the Manager, Business Systems Analysis.

I landed this opportunity not as a result of networking, but applying directly to Fannie Mae.  However, I do not believe I would have been successful in my job search without the help, support, encouragement, and advice I received through networking with groups such as this.  Therefore, I’d like to thank the members of this group for everything they did to help.  The discussions were valuable and and learned from all of them.  I …

A belated communication regarding my landing as a Field Marketing Manager for network security firm Trend Micro, Inc.  They have a large U.S. presence in Arlington, TX.  I brought donuts about 2 weeks ago but am just now sending my update.

I found the job (or it found me) via both www.careerbuilder.com and the in-house recruiter using LinkedIn.

Thank you to Foster Williams for letting me maintain my presentation skills at his networking groups, for Karen Granade and the MAG!C networking group of Marketing, Advertising and Graphic Communications professionals, for David Lanners and his …

As of 4/28 I landed with a small home building company called Lionsgate
Homes. I will be a Construction Manager building in N. Ft. Worth/Keller
within site of Alliance Airport.
This all came about because I handed my card to a guy at my kids football
game last summer and chatted with him. He sent me an email out of the blue 5
months ago and told me about this company. I knew someone there and called
him up, and called him every week since, till I was brought in to interview
a month ago. They called …

I have an extensive background writing commercial software for the financial services industry.  I have usually worked as both a programmer/analyst and technical project leader.  My technical background involved working on IBM mainframe and UNIX platforms, and also included working as an EDI coordinator.

In July 2006, Fiserv Loan Servicing Products was staffing up for a long-term project with Chase Bank.  I accepted a contract-to-hire position.  This was going to be a great opportunity for me and a lucrative project for Fiserv.  However, 2 weeks into my job, the Chase deal fell …

A few Thursdays back during the job announcements there was one from 20/20 Companies for a National Retail Sales Trainer. As it happened that particular day I arrived early (a rare occurrence driving from Granbury!) and sat in one of the front tables, to my left was Angie Whitehorn whom I previously met at both the SFC and Fort Worth Career Search Network meetings. When the trainer job was announced I blew it off as I felt I was not qualified, about this time Angie smacked me on my left …

For the last 13 months and 21 days, I wore the same pair of shoes to either surf the net, send out resumes or go and interview. Today I get to retire those shoes and put a new pair  to start a new job. Or in other words I have landed. I would like to thank God, Southlake Focus Group, Crossroads Transition Group, and all my friends and family for their loyal support.  They picked me up when I didn’t think that I would ever find a landing spot. God truly …
