About Theatre Three

Theatre Three is a nonprofit live professional theatre in-the-round, located in the Uptown neighborhood in Dallas, Texas.  Theatre Three’s mission is to illuminate the human experience with exemplary, intimate theatre by nurturing authors, regional artists and audiences. The theatre has two performance venues: the Norma Young Arena Stage (seats 242) and Theatre Too, an intimate basement space that seats 86. Founded in 1961 by Jac Alder and Norma Young, the theatre is led by Artistic Director Jeffrey Schmidt and Managing Director Merri Brewer.

Position: Development Associate

Reports to: Managing Director

Work Schedule: 10am-6pm (with some flexibility), with nights and weekends required as needed to address development needs during scheduled performances, position available immediately.

Full time position, salary to range between $30,000-$32,000, benefits currently limited to paid time off

The position Theatre Three is seeking an experienced Development Associate to assist in fundraising activities

  • Develop proficiency in Theatre Three’s database, Theatre Manager (training will be provided)
  • Process, track, report and acknowledge gifts in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Manage accurate recording of new and existing pledges and pledge reminders
  • Working with a team to execute a comprehensive development plan with measurable goals and outcomes
  • Ensure recurring gifts are billed and renewed
  • Monitor matching gift program and submit all necessary materials
  • Assist in implementation of donor benefits (including attending donor events)
  • Capture donor self-reported information, respond to all donor requests
  • Research and create donor profiles as requested
  • Assist in grant research and preparation
  • Assist in grant reporting
  • Support existing Development staff (a contracted team handling a capital campaign)
  • To undertake other duties as assigned by the Managing Director
Education and Experience

  • A college degree (BA or BFA preferred)
  • Relevant work experience in administrative support/database administration/nonprofit fundraising (at least 2 years)
  • Arts organization/nonprofit experience preferred, theatre experience/knowledge a plus, experience using a patron/customer management database a plus, event planning experience a plus
Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent phone, written, and oral communication skills
  • Well versed in office procedures and systems
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently once objectives and tasks have been determined
  • Outstanding organization skills, including managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Handle confidential information with sensitivity
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
